The Russians Aren't Coming, They're Already Here! Lehman Chair Looks to Moscow to Sell His Art Collection

Richard Fuld Jr., the chairman and chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers, owns a primary home in Greenwich, Conn. with an indoor squash court, a $21 million Park Avenue co-op, a home in Vermont, another one on Sun Valley, Idaho, and another one in Jupiter Island, Fla., for which he paid $13.75 million in 2004, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But now that Mr. Fuld's company has filed for bankruptcy, he and wife, Kathy Fuld, are trying to find ways to cash out like the rest of the city. And while they will not be selling any of those fancy homes (yet!), they will auction off their highly prized modern art collection. read more »

The Vanity Fair 100: Some Rise, Some Fall, We Scratch Our Heads

Vanity Fair has come out with its list of 100 most powerful influentials, most of which—since they've already been covered by various lists in Time (the Time 100), Forbes (celebs and richest Americans) and elsewhere—come as no surprise.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and Google boys Sergey Brin, Larry Page, and Eric Schmidt are all in the top 10, followed closely behind by David Geffen, Bill Clinton and billionaire Ronald Perelman.

But there do appear to be some changes from last year's list. Some powerful names have sunk or even disappeared to make room for names in fashion and entertainment. read more »

Morning Memo: New Gig For Scarlett's Brother; Winehouse Takes Her Time

Scarlett Johansson's brother, Hunter, who until recently worked for Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, has reportedly left to work for the Obama campaign. Now they can both have regular email correspondence with the candidate.
Even though Roman Abramovich reportedly paid Amy Winehouse $2 million to perform at his girlfriend Dasha Zhukova's Moscow gallery last week, she still couldn't make it onto the stage on time.
The Case for Manchester United

I am the proud owner of a nephew who is 15 years old, 6 feet 2, and 85 pounds after a week in a typhoon. I’ve seen veggie burgers with more meat on them. Great kid, too, and a huge Manchester United fan – he recently did some school exam after one hour’s sleep, having trekked with his dad the night before to Barcelona and back to watch United in a European game. (Don’t tell his teacher). But despite the fact I like him a lot, and share his obsession with all things Man U, being just 15 he’s badly in need of a history lesson, so Sam Dempsey of Tamworth, England? read more »
