As the Manhattan Borough President's race heads into its hectic final days, a couple of real estate tidbits pass across the radar.

For one, longshot former Council Member Stan Michels is circulating a press release attacking frontrunner Scott Stringer for accepting, by his tally, more than $200,000 from people involved in the real estate business.

But, as the great line from Metropolitan goes (roughly), "It's not hypocrisy, it's sin!" (in terms of Democratic politics, at least). On the hypocrisy front, a reader draws attention to this line from the just-released Citizens Union Voter Guide's section on Brian Ellner:

"Mr. Ellner brings great energy and ideas to his bid for the Borough President's office. He also has pledged not to take campaign contributions from developers, a position worthy of praise, and one that he believes would allow him to be more independent."  read more »

It may be a position worthy of praise, but it doesn't seem to be Ellner's actual position. He's taken donations from various real estate types, including Philip Aarons of Millennium Partners, who gives his occupation as "developer" and appears to be Ellner's very first contributor. The list also includes Daniel Brodsky of the Brodsky Organization.
