The Buckley Endorsement

Much buzz this morning about a William F. Buckley quote from Bloomberg News:
Clinton, of New York, is ``a very consequential woman with an extraordinary background,'' he said. ``Her thought is kind of woozy left, not in my judgment threatening.''

She is ``a phenomenon, a woman candidate who might easily be president,'' Buckley said.

Meanwhile, if you want a curative to the new Buckley-as-genial-wise-man thing, try this recent Observer piece on Dwight Macdonald, who long ago described Buckley's work as "giving the general effect of a brief by Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft on behalf of a pickpocket arrested in a subway men’s room."
