John McLaughlin Calls Barack Obama an 'Oreo'
Media Matters for America, the progressive media watchdog group, has posted a video of curmudgeonly shoutfest host John McLaughlin slurring presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama this past week on The McLaughlin Group .
In the clip, above, Mr. McLaughlin addressed the controversy surrounding Jesse Jackson's whispered threat to cut Mr. Obama's nuts off, by saying "Obama, who fits the stereotype blacks once labeled as an Oreo—a black on the outside, a white on the inside—that an Oreo should be the beneficiary of the long civil rights struggle which Jesse Jackson spent his lifetime fighting for?" read more »
Moist Eggs and Cherry Blossoms
It was another gorgeous day today in Washington. The White House Correspondents Association dinner weekend has been bathed in sunshine and warm but unoppressive weather.
"I could use some whiskey," said Senator Craig Thomas of Wyoming in the elevator up to television host John McLaughlin's annual brunch on the Hay-Adams hotel rooftop, overlooking the White House.

GOP for Spencer
He had some nervous moments during the vote, apparently, lurking in a corner and playing with a paper coffee cup as K.T. McFarland bounded around the convention floor thank the delegates who voted for her.
And aides to both candidates told our man on the floor as the roll was being called that they were tracking ahead of expectations. But in the end, it was the Spencer camp talking about bringing the nomination battle to a swift and final close.
"We're going to win," said John McLaughlin, a consultant for Spencer, shortly before the tally was announced. "The question is what she wants to do. He's coming out of here as the designee. If they are serious about beating Hillary Clinton, then John Spencer has to be the candidate."
