Couples Retreat Might Be the Movie of Our Dreams
We've had our eyes on Couples Retreat for a good month. The goofy Jon Favreau-Vince Vaughn reunion film that Mr. Favreau penned, off an idea from Mr. Vaughn, seems like the type of pure high-concept tripe that we'll scoop up with the fervor of Oliver Twist. To wit: four couples visit a tropical paradise in the hopes of reviving their respective relationships in different ways. Altogether now: Hack! But! We have no doubt that it'll be a fertile playground for hilarity between old friends Vaughn and Favreau. Also? The other two men are played by our personal favorites Jason Bateman and Faizon Love. Sounds like a hit movie; or at least one that we'll see opening weekend regardless of actual quality.
Now there's word about the ladies joining the group. read more »
Vaughn and Favreau Reteam for Goofy Movie
Here's a promise: we won't make a single "they're so money" joke in this entire post.
Swingers friends Jon Faverau and Vince Vaughn are re-teaming for the new film Couples Retreat. The film, written by Mr. Faverau and based on an idea by Mr. Vaughn, will center on a pair of couples who go on a tropical vacation for different reasons: one of the couples is just looking for fun, while the other is looking to salvage their marriage (cue wacky comedy horn!). Peter Billingsley, a long-time friend and collaborator of the duo (and the kid from A Christmas Story!) will make his feature directorial debut. read more »
Manhattan Weekend Box Office: Who's So Money, Now? Martin Macks Manhattan, While Vince Winces
Lesson learned this weekend: Martin Lawrence still has it, while Vince Vaughn doesn’t always. Out of five—yes, five—comedies released this weekend, Lawrence’s Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (No. 1) was easily the fan favorite in Manhattan, out-grossing its closest competition, the Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey romantic barnstormer Fool’s Gold by over $60,000. (Gold did, however, get the last laugh by claiming more cash nationally.) So, where did Vince Vaughn’s stand-up travelogue, Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, end up? Well, for starters, not on our top 10. read more »
Duvall Gets Festive With Four Christmases
Robert Duvall will join Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in the holiday romp, Four Christmases, set to start production in December. Mr. Vaughn is trying extra hard to get on Santa's good list this year (Fred Claus, now Four Christmases?)
Vaughn and Witherspoon also are producing the pic, in which a couple struggles to visit all four divorced parents on Christmas Day. read more »
