Liza Minnelli collapsed in the midst of a live performance last night in Sweden. She had traveled to the Scandinavian nation to put on a Christmas show, but after singing only a few songs, the beloved icon fell off the side of the stage. Luckily for Ms. Minnelli, 61, a technician caught her fall, preventing any serious injuries, according to a local promoter named Michael Silfverskiold. “It was a terrible situation…You could see she was in pain,” he added of the ordeal. Apparently the police were called to the venue after feisty members of the audience began to demand refunds. Though it probably gave the Academy Award-winning entertainer a start, she was discharged from the hospital this morning and is en route back to the United States. The medical reason for the collapse is yet unknown. [Reuters]

The Los Angeles' Times Hot Property column reported yesterday that Liza Minnelli has finally sold her father Vicente's Beverly Hills estate for "about $3.5 million."

When her father died in 1986 he left the Hollywood Regency style house on one acre near the Beverly Hills Hotel to Liza, but on the condition that his widow, Lee, could remain living in the house until she died.

But in 2000, Liza put the house on the market at $3.5 million anyway.

In 2002, Lee sued Liza, claiming elder abuse and breach of contract, then dropped the lawsuit.

The estate went into escrow for four years. But now it seems something's been worked out. Lee still lives there, but the new owners plan to move in and re-do the place.  read more »

The column didn't identify the buyers or the asking price.
