Publicist Kristian Laliberte has written in response to our account of what happened at last Saturday’s Artists for Living with a Life-long Ambition (LWALA) benefit auction, when over 40 society figures advertised on a media tip sheet publicizing the event failed to materialize.

When The Observer contacted the representatives of supposedly confirmed guests like Lydia Hearst and Olivia Palermo, they told us that they had not R.S.V.P.-ed to the event, nor even recalled being invited.  read more »

Five Questions for Kristian Laliberte

We heard you're working on a reality show called The 10021 that takes place in South Hampton?

Yes, it’s basically a show about four New Yorkers living a kind of fashion lifestyle and about how their professional lives intersect with their social lives. It’s a reality show, but it is being done more like a documentary-drama because it’s filmed as a snapshot of our lives.  read more »

We’ve just come across the two most spectacular Facebook groups ever created. Like the Montagues and Capulets—only digital and not in iambic pentameter—the groups stand in such apparent opposition that they beg to be compared. On one side: “Fabian Basabe Is Fabulous.” On the other: “Kristian Laliberte is on my A-List.”  read more »

Kristian Laliberte Apologizes, Sets Record Straight

As promised, here follows Kristian Laliberte’s response to the recent claims made by writer-critic Ana Finel Honigman. (In short, Ms. Honigman told The Daily Transom that Mr. Laliberte heavily borrowed language from her yet-unpublished Tank Magazine article on FameTheory, an artist collective, to craft his press release for FameGame.com, a social ranking Web site.)

Kristian Laliberte: Confused by Fame Game

Last week, The Daily Transom posted an e-mail we received from party boi Kristian Laliberte. Meaning to promote a forthcoming Web site, called FameGame.com (à la SocialiteRank.com), he heralded its ability to assess “the tangible, actual, and measurable results of a person’s fame.” At the time, we remarked on the impressive, colorful tapestry of language Mr. Laliberte had so expertly loomed, seemingly for our pleasure.

Since then, our delight has been felled like a rotting tree. Ana Finel Honigman, a broadly-published New York and London-based critic and journalist, wrote us to say that "this Kristian Laliberte guy is clearly a monkey."

Kristian Laliberte Wants to Measure Your 'Substance' With New Web Site

To be honest, party boi Kristian Laliberte has fallen off The Daily Transom's radar recently. In fact, we were mere millimeters from forgetting about the guy altogether. And then he sent us something so darling, so mind-blowing, it would be a crime not to share.

It seems Mr. Laliberte, a publicist of sorts, mourns the loss of Socialite Rank, the posthumous Web site that once assigned points to real socialites like Tinsley Mortimer and to other people who simply fancy their bag: Champagne, Patrick McMullan, sick shoes, ranking stuff (after college). He apparently misses the concept so much that he was able to craft a heart-pounding e-mail announcing the launch of a similar enterprise, FameGame.com.

It's been over a week since we heard from Unruly Heir publicity-sprite and party boy Kristian Laliberte!

So imagine our relief to find this interview, granted to the blog Guest of a Guest.

“He's been called socialgay, fashion publicist, and the 'attention starved social butterfly,'" the lead-up to this lengthy Q & A asserts.

His contemporaries have copied him, then turned their backs on him, only to party with him again. Oh yeah and Gawker thinks he's a 'fat douche' … Call him whatever you wish, just don't call him stupid … Manipulative or not, Kristian Laliberte has made a name and a living in this town, and he's ready to set the record straight.

Kristian Laliberte Responds!

After Kristian Laliberte read Paul Johnson-Calderon’s recent claims in the Daily Transom, the Unruly Heir publicist called us today to add his own two-cents on the matter.

First, responding to Mr. Johnson-Calderon’s insistence that the pair’s reality TV show was canned because of his work at Vogue, Mr. Laliberte explained: “The reason the show is not happening has nothing to do with Vogue and everything to do with a project that I’m working on. I can’t discuss it, but it’s 100% going forward,” he said.

(Mr. Laliberte then indicated that the Daily Transom might want to contact Vogue in order to find out if Mr. Johnson-Calderon was, as he purported, actually on staff at the magazine. We did; they said he used to be an intern assistant in the features department, but no longer works there.)

Mr. Laliberte was equally aghast at the suggestion that he ever tried to hit on Mr. Johnson-Calderon's current boyfriend, Peter Davis. “The first time I met Paul was when he pushed me at a New Yorkers for Children benefit and said that I was hitting on Peter. I didn’t know who either of them were at that point!” Mr. Laliberte said. “I am glad that I’m friends with both of them, and I think they make an adorable couple. I have no doubt in my mind that at some point they’ll probably get married. I think Paul would make a wonderful father,” he said, before adding: “I mean, personally, I like guys who are my own age.”

Wrapping up his case with little-diminished fervor, Mr. Laliberte explained that he’s glad he no longer spends a lot of time with his onetime frenemy. “I’m just not into the late night scene. I think its great that Paul is young and having fun, I just have to get up for work every morning.”

Paul Johnson-Calderon No Longer Kristian Laliberte's Frenemy

Paul Johnson-Calderon, the social butterfly and assistant to Vogue contributing editor Lauren Davis, wants to set the record straight about his failed attempt to star in a reality TV show with publicist party-boy Kristian Laliberte. (“It’s going to be The Simple Life meets The Hills,” Mr. Laliberte reportedly said.)

“There’s no more show. It’s no longer happening; Vogue won’t let me do it,” Mr. Johnson-Calderon, 24, told the Daily Transom last night at John Allan's Habitat for Humanity benefit in Stone Rose, a jazz bar on the fourth floor of the Time-Warner Center.  read more »
