Speculation that Washington’s two most eligible singles—Hillary Rodham Clinton’s fashionable traveling aide Huma Abedin and New York’s dashing bachelor Congressman Anthony Weiner—are dating has become “common knowledge” among the campaign press corp, according to a reporter on the trail.

Reached for comment by the Transom, Mr. Weiner, who has reportedly stepped out with television hostess Alli Joseph and ABC correspondent Gigi Stone, opted not to deny the rumors. “I’ve got nothing for you on this, buddy,” he said.  read more »

One way to cause pandemonium in a Hy-Vee supermarket in Des Moines is to send Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Magic Johnson there at the same time.
The trio entered, in size order, this morning and greeted a group of high school students in the market’s coffee shop, (Hillary said, “Hello!” Bill said, “Good Morning” and Magic said,“What’s up baby.”) Magic caused the biggest stir, literally overshadowing the politicians. What did Bill Clinton have to say about his now-60-year-old wife?

“In bringing her up here, I want to tell you something entirely different tonight, about her life, because I’ve seen it now for more than half of her life,” he said. “She was just 23 when we met. Poor child didn’t know better than to talk to me."

We think she knew just what she was doing. There was the predictable banter about Rudy Giuliani's Red Sox treason, and some political earnestness.

Over the weekend, Page Six reported that Hillary Clinton’s unflappable, über-fashionable top assistant Huma Abedin was recently spotted in the throes of an excited conversation with New York congressman Anthony Weiner. It's part of a recent tradition in the Post to try to find the 43-year-old bachelor a match.

In the summer of 2005, the paper reported that Mr. Weiner’s mother was “begging him to get married soon,” but he was “in no rush.”  read more »
