Tim and Elisabeth Hasselbeck Buy Glassy $3.25 M. Condo

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Tim Hasselbeck and his wife, Elisabeth, the blond, slightly annoying Survivor star-turned-View co-host, just bought a four-bedroom, 2,349-square-foot apartment at Ariel West, the new tower developed by Gary Barnett at Broadway and 99th Street. According to city records, they spent $3.25 million.

The floor plan says that two of the bedrooms, the 30-foot living/dining room, the family room, and the master bathroom are all lined against a massive wall of windows. Of course, that means there will be a nice view for the View co-host, which would have easily made for a nice pun-dripped headline—but there are times in every real estate writer's life when the opportunity to write genuinely idiotic double-entendres must be resisted.

In any case, it's not the first Upper West Side place for the couple. They spent $999,000 in 2005 on an apartment 20 blocks south, city recoreds show, which they haven't sold off yet. That place probably didn't have Ariel's über-condo bonuses like a 51-foot indoor pool, an outdoor basketball court, a pet grooming salon, billiards parlor, and an "elaborate" childrens' playroom, which will suit Ms. Hasselbeck's elaborate tastes.

Jessica Seinfeld Responds to Plagiarism Claims on 'View'

Jessica Seinfeld, the gastronomically inclined wife of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, went on The View today to promote her cookbook, Deceptively Delicious—a collection of healthful recipies designed to appeal to tots. She also took the on-air opportunity to respond to all the recent criticism surrounding the book. (Soon after Ms. Seinfeld’s book was published, some people pointed to the striking similarities between her creations and those in The Sneaky Chef, a cookbook by Missy Chase Lapine.)

As paraphrased by The Huffington Post, Ms. Seinfeld told the midday talk-show co-hosts: “Missy is jealous because her book didn't debut at the top of best-seller lists and get her on Oprah. And why would Jessica steal recipes, because she doesn't need the money, anyway.” Watch the video here.

Hillary Sells Steel Magnolias Feminism

Joy Behar is quite enchanted.
Joy Behar is quite enchanted.

As a routine, it seemed to be yet another flawless Clinton production, an ingenious – and admittedly, appealing – way to reach out to The View vote while neither scaring them off nor appearing so Martha Stewart one minute that she couldn’t go on to discuss her China policy the next. It was Steel Magnolias feminism at its best.  read more »

Hillary's Woman Tour

After appearing on ABC's "The View" this morning, Hillary Clinton continued her estrogen -charged "Women Changing America" sweep through New York today by giving a speech at the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee luncheon at the Grand Central Hyatt.

"A lot of people took a chance on me," said Clinton about her senate run in a ballroom full of mostly women. "We now face a new question: Is America ready for a woman President."

"Is it easy to make history? Is it easy to change history? Of course not."

In introducing the candidate, Ellen Malcolm, the president of Emily's List, noted that Clinton was leading by more than 30 points in some polls, and enjoyed overwhelming support from women, especially in the primary state of New Hampshire.
