Last night, New York Times reporters were treated to tea and cake to celebrate the opening of their new Eighth Avenue tower. But on Monday, the real party starts, when the paper holds its official opening celebration. That event will be limited to the masthead, advertisers, "government officials" and select prized Times superstars.

The vast majority of the staff, not invited, will have to accommodate them.
