Horseplayers who bet the ranch—or the condo—on Big Brown in last Saturday’s Belmont Stakes may not be the only losers in New York. The city is on the verge of shutting down the Off-Track Betting Corp. because of a disagreement between City Hall and Albany over distribution of revenues to the state and to the racing industry.

Big Brown Can Win It All

So it’s almost time to find out the answer to the question I’ve been asking all season: Can Big Brown do it?

This Saturday, Belmont Park is expecting a record crowd to witness Big Brown's attempt to become the 12th winner of the elusive Triple Crown. It's been thirty years since Affirmed won it.

Like all right-thinking New Yorkers, I’ll be pulling for Big Brown.
