Sacrebleu! DSK Townhouse Price Falls Again

Apparently international politicos in search of a townhouse for house arrest are in short supply these days. Though brokers had hoped to use the tabloid attention to help sell 153 Franklin Street, the strategy has so far failed.

The now-infamous Tribeca townhouse, originally listed in 2009 for $14.995 million, has seen its price knocked down $1.5 million once before, and now it has tumbled that far yet again, as desperate for a sale as its previous occupant was for sex. Read More

Another Banker Buys Another $15 M. Tribeca Penthouse

While financiers have tended to favor the comfort of uptown, that is starting to change.  The emergence of Tribeca as a top real estate destination has added another foci to the perennial orbit of New York's luxury buyers. The dust has settled on the latest and greatest Tribeca penthouse sale, and this one comes with an uptown price tag. A condo 471 Washington Street has just sold for $17.5 million, city records show, and the buyer is a business big. Read More

Well, a superstar if you're savvy about financial virtuosos, that is. Greg Agran, the newly appointed head of commodities trading at Goldman Sachs, appears to be the newest owner at the hot downtown condo. Read More

Brick-and-Mortar PayPal Hits Tribeca

PayPal has popped up in Tribeca with its "PayPal Shopping Showcase," a pop-up store that's not exactly a "store."

The San Jose-based online payment company moved into an 8,000-square-foot ground floor space at 147 Hudson Street Oct. 3. The building, known for its open space and towering windows, was an ideal location for the online money exchange company to introduce retailers to new technology the firm hopes to introduce in 2012, said Jamie Patricio, a  PayPal spokeswoman.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn Way Overpaid for His Tribeca Townhouse

“I’ve never had anything else like this, it was so much more than any other celebrity-type deal that I’ve done,” Robert Dvorin said of his fresh listing at 153 Franklin Street in Tribeca. “This was another level, this was worldwide. It's Zagreat! (PMcM)

Ted Zagat Unfriends Tribeca for $2.15 M.

Six years ago, 249 Church Street would have rated a 22 or 23 in Edward Ernst "Ted" Zagat's book. The restaurant survey scion purchased a three-bedroom loft there, perhaps for the proximity to Bouley, The Odeon and Nobu, for $1.6 million. Having joined Facebook in April, he just sold the home for a very friendly $2.15 million.

While Mr. Zagat came to Tribeca from his native Upper West Side, the buyer is even more of a foreigner. Aidan P. Flatley is president and C.E.O. of the Ontario-based Kenaidan company. (Get it?Founded with a guy named Ken, sounds like Canadian—these guys are clever.) Mr. Flatley's daughter Margaret is also listed on the deed and currently resides in the Village. According to a source, the 1,700-square-foot home is for her. Read More

A very classic room in such a trendy apartment.

It’s a Mansion! It’s a Loft! It’s Only $45 M. Dollars!

This Tribeca townhouse is so hip it looks like it's from the future. There's exposed brick everywhere, a glass staircase, bold-colored walls and lots of shiny metal. It's far from homey, but it's definitely a trophy you can brag about to all your Upper East Side friends.

At $45 million—well above the downtown record—you'll get the entire property, including three rental units, commercial space, a gym and the owner's living unit, which comprises three floors and 2,775 square feet of outdoor space. Read More
